This half day Road Show is aimed at anyone who is interested in finding out more about social accounting and audit; as a way of measuring social value, improving your business practices, and being accountable to your investors, funders and commissioners. The SAN methodology is particularly aimed at organisations operating in the social economy – voluntary, community and social enterprise – SMEs wishing to develop their purposeful business or public sector organisations wanting to be more accountable for social value. Our Road Show would also be useful for people who are working to advise and support others around social value and impact

Alan Kay continues to write a series of thought-provoking blogs

Alan Kay continues to write a series of thought-provoking blogs. You can find the latest blog ‘Social Impact and our particular understanding of communityhere.

In an excerpt from the blog…

‘Many social enterprises and perhaps more accurately, community enterprises, say that they are having an impact on The Community.  But do we really understand what we mean when we talk about ‘community’?

I have been involved with a number of EU funded projects over the years and conversations with European partners turns to semantics and discussion on whether or not there is a shared understanding of some of the major concepts that we in the UK bandied about with abandon.  One of those, and one that often forms a bit of a stumbling block, is the word ‘community’.  The Germans say it is untranslatable; the French use it in other ways; the British say it all the time in the hope that the others get their meaning.’

The blogs can be found at SAN’s wordpress site:
