General Background

Bill Taylor is the MD of Taylor Armitt Consulting. Prior to establishing the firm in 2009, he had almost 30 years' experience in Social Housing, with a variety of providers. This experience focused on development and asset management, working with 'mainstream' housing associations and housing co-ops, as well as a Housing Action Trust. Bill also held a remit for social enterprise in some of his roles, and was a founder member and subsequently Chair of Fusion21, a social enterprise that delivered training and job opportunities funded through cost savings made on effective procurement.

Taylor Armitt Consulting ( offers services to a range of clients including housing associations, other social enterprises, consultants and contractors. It covers housing and regeneration, procurement, CSR and social and environmental sustainability (including establishing community allotments).

Bill trained on the SAN course on social accounting and auditing in 2011 and 'graduated' as a Social Auditor with SAN in October 2012 after chairing an audit panel at the NeuroMuscluar Centre in Winsford, Cheshire, with mentoring from Lisa McMullan. He is looking forward to helping clients develop their social accounting approach, deliver sets of accounts, and to carrying out more Social Audits.
